AlipayHK is Digital Wallet Provider participating in Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme
All commuters, regardless of their age and income levels, are not required to submit an application for the Scheme. Under the Scheme, they can continue to benefit from various public transport fare concessions offered by the Government and public transport operators* at the moment. The actual amount of the concessionary fares paid by the commuters will be counted as the monthly public transport expenses.
Starting from the 16th of each month, commuters can collect the public transport fare subsidy of the previous month. The subsidy concerned will be deposited to the individual AlipayHK account via AlipayHK. Account holders have three months to collect the subsidy.
* AlipayHK is not applicable for payment of the concessionary fares under the Government Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities (the $2 Scheme) and the MTR Student Travel Scheme.

The Beneficiaries
No application or pre-registration of AlipayHK is required for joining the Scheme. Under the Scheme, the subsidy amount of each month is calculated on the basis of the actual monthly public transport expenses of the previous month recorded in each AlipayHK account. Daily expenses on public transport services covered by the Scheme, which are paid by the AlipayHK public transport payment method, are recorded automatically. You are not required to pre-register your AlipayHK account or relevant public transport expenses.
Please note that under the Scheme at present, AlipayHK can only be used for paying single journey fares. It does not support the purchase of designated transport tickets (e.g. monthly passes / day passes / holiday tickets) under the Scheme. In addition, the AlipayHK account does not support recording or registration of expenses for designated transport tickets. Commuters are thus requested to register the designated transport tickets through specific channels under the Scheme.
Please visit the government dedicated website https://www.ptfss.gov.hk to learn more about the Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme.

Commuters are thus requested to register the designated transport tickets through specific channels under the Scheme.
AlipayHK is one of the electronic payment means accepted under the Scheme. If commuters travel on public transport services covered by the Scheme, and choose to pay transport expenses by the AlipayHK public transport payment method, those expenses will be automatically recorded for the calculation of the public transport fare subsidy.
Please note that under the Scheme at present, AlipayHK can only be used for paying single journey fares. Using Public Transport with the Concessionary Fares
Please note that the concessionary fares under the Government Public Transport Fare Concession Scheme for the Elderly and Eligible Persons with Disabilities (the $2 Scheme) and the MTR Student Travel Scheme cannot be settled through the AlipayHK mobile application and the “MTR Mobile” application. In addition, actual fares will be determined according to the fare rules of the respective public transport operators. Operators may verify whether passengers qualify for the selected fare category.
If you are eligible for using public transport with the concessionary fares offered by public transport operators, you can pay the following types of concessionary fare by AlipayHK:
(a) AlipayHK mobile application: Child or Senior
(b) “MTR Mobile” application: Concessionary
To use AlipayHK for paying the concessionary fares offered by public transport operators as mentioned in (a) and (b) above, please refer to the following steps to complete the settings:
AlipayHK mobile application:
Before using the “EasyGo” QR code on AlipayHK mobile application for payment of transport expenses, please select the type of concessionary fare first (i.e. Child / Senior). If you plan to travel in the first class on MTR’s East Rail Line, please select “First Class” as well.
“MTR Mobile” application:
To settle MTR fares by the QR code on “MTR Mobile” application with AlipayHK as the payment source, please select concessionary ticket type (i.e. Concessionary) before entering the gate. If you plan to travel in the first class on MTR’s East Rail Line, please select “First Class” as well.
Alipay Accounts Accepted under the Scheme
The Public Transport Fare Subsidy Scheme is applicable to the AlipayHK accounts. The Scheme does not apply to the Alipay accounts opened in other regions (e.g. Alipay accounts in Mainland China).
No. The subsidy must be collected with the same AlipayHK account used for the calculation of the public transport expenses. Any other AlipayHK account is not accepted.
Subsidy Calculation
The subsidy of each month will be calculated on the basis of the actual monthly public transport expenses recorded in each AlipayHK account.
The government would provide commuters with a subsidy amounting to one-third of their actual monthly public transport expenses in excess of $400, subject to a maximum of $400 per month for each AlipayHK account.
No. The public transport expenses recorded in each AlipayHK account must be calculated independently for the calculation of the subsidy amount under the Scheme.
If the application for the refund of the overcharged bus fare is successful, the public transport operator will notify AlipayHK to deduct such expenses in the relevant month. The difference in the subsidy will be adjusted in the next public transport fare subsidy calculation.
No. The subsidy amount of each month is calculated on the basis of the actual monthly public transport expenses of the previous month recorded in each AlipayHK account.
The maximum cap for the public transport fare subsidy per month excludes any subsidy adjustment amount applicable.
Due to the delayed upload of transaction data by public transport operators or fare refunds, etc., the public transport expenses recorded at the time of calculation of subsidy amount may be different from the actual expenses. The subsidy amount is then adjusted accordingly when the records of expenses are updated.
Positive subsidy adjustment amount will be grouped into the Total Subsidy Amount to be collected during the subsidy collection period of the next month; whereas negative subsidy adjustment amount will be deducted from the Total Subsidy Amount.
No. If you log in your AlipayHK account on another mobile phone or smart device, the account will be forced to log out from the original mobile phone or smart device.
No. When travelling by bus, tram, ferry or minibus and using the “EasyGo” QR code on AlipayHK mobile application for payment of transport expenses, passengers cannot use the same AlipayHK account immediately for fare payment on the same public transport. As for MTR (including 9 heavy rail network, excluding the Airport Express, Light Rail and MTR Buses), since each passenger must complete the entire gate entry and exit process, the same AlipayHK account cannot be shared among passengers for settling MTR fares.
Subsidy Collection
Starting from the 16th of each month, commuters can collect the public transport fare subsidy of the previous month.
Commuters can collect the subsidy of the previous month manually through their AlipayHK mobile application by clicking the “Collect Subsidy” button on the “Transport Subsidy” page. The subsidy will be credited to the balance of their AlipayHK electronic wallets. Commuters may also use the “Automatic Collection” feature provided on the AlipayHK mobile application. Once this feature is activated, the subsidy will be automatically credited to the balance of commuters’ AlipayHK electronic wallets on the 16th of each month.
Starting from the 16th of each month, commuters can collect the public transport fare subsidy of the previous month. The subsidy is valid for collection within three months. If the commuters do not collect the subsidy within three months after disbursement, the subsidy amount cannot be retrieved thereafter.
No. The subsidy must be collected with the same AlipayHK account used for the calculation of the public transport expenses. Subsidies recorded on other electronic payment tools cannot be collected by AlipayHK.
Commuters can log in to the “Public Transport Fare Subsidy” feature in the AlipayHK mobile application, and then click the “…” button in the top right corner. After entering the “Change Subsidy Collection Arrangement” page, follow the instructions to select or switch to the “Automatic Collection”.
Each AlipayHK account has a balance limit. If your account balance is insufficient, regardless of whether the subsidy is received automatically or manually, the system will only release part of the subsidy to your account balance. You can increase/release your account balance limit by making fund transfers, using the balance for payments, or completing identity verification. For more details, please refer to the following links:

Use balance for payment
Identity verification
Once the balance limit of the account is increased/released, the system will immediately rearrange the automatic disbursement of subsidy if you have activated the “Automatic Collection” feature. No matter the subsidy is received automatically or manually, commuters may also click the “Collect Subsidy” button on the “Transport Subsidy” page at any time to manually collect the subsidy.
If there is still an uncollected subsidy amount in your AlipayHK account, once you confirm the activation of the “Automatic Collection” feature, the system will credit all your uncollected subsidy to your AlipayHK account balance instantly and automatically. Then, the system will credit the subsidy to your AlipayHK account balance on the 16th of each month automatically.
If the subsidy cannot be credited to your AlipayHK account due to insufficient account balance limit, please refer to the solutions for User FAQ.
If there is still an uncollected subsidy amount in your AlipayHK account, once you confirm the cancellation of the “Automatic Collection” feature, the system will credit all your uncollected subsidy to your AlipayHK account balance instantly and automatically. However, after this feature is turned off, you have to manually click the “Collect Subsidy” button on the “Transport Subsidy” page starting from the 16th of the next month to collect the subsidy by yourself. Otherwise, the subsidy will not be credited to your AlipayHK account balance. Please note that the subsidy of each month is valid for collection within three months. If you do not collect the subsidy within three months, the subsidy amount cannot be retrieved thereafter.
If the subsidy cannot be credited to your AlipayHK account due to insufficient account balance limit, please refer to the solutions for User FAQ.
The balance limit of each AlipayHK account is determined by the authentication status of the user. For example, the balance limit for an unauthenticated user is $3000. When the account balance reaches the upper limit, the system will prompt the message “Insufficient Balance”.
